All together again

It's been a slightly tricky 6 weeks with all the girls coming into season, dogs and cats and Bob having her gorgeous kittens! Tiffany proved to be a little trickier than expected, by having a silent season. I believe that her grandma, Rhonda, used to have the occasional silent season, but it was never anything I particularly worried about because at the time I didn't own an entire male. Tiffany showed none of the usual physical symptoms of being in season, her vulva did not swell and as far as I could see, there was no discharge (though she did lick herself more than usual). However, what did change was her behaviour and the boys attitude towards her. She became very highly strung and jumpy and Cash became more than a bit interested in her. I therefore separated her from the boys for 8 days and it is only now that she is just about to come on a pack walk again. Hopefully being able to exercise properly and play with her friends will help dispel the anxiety she has experienced over the last couple of weeks. So we are now back to what passes as normal in this house :-)

Dime and Spirit  are both very well, though it will still be another week or two before we know for certain if there are pups on the way.

Bobs kittens are just beautiful, three little Bagpuss's. I will add some pictures to this post later today. As promised, pictures:

And then there were three :-(

Unfortunately Bob has lost one of her girls, on Tuesday it was apparent that one of the kittens had sustained serious damage to one of her eyes (most likely an accidental scratch from one of her siblings that very quickly became badly infected), she was taken straight to the vets, but the prognosis was poor, the only hope we had was to get the infection under control and wait for her to be big enough for the eye to be removed. Despite strong antibiotics, for the infection, and anti inflamatories to control the swelling and pain, which were administered alongside intensive nursing both from her mum and myself, last night she gave up the fight.

The other kittens are thriving, I am now fairly sure that we have a black smoke boy, a blue cream girl and a blue girl. They are lovely chunky kittens, who currently look as if their skin is two sizes too big!

And now we wait

Cash and Dime have enjoyed a few days of courtship, and after covering approx 650 miles, Spirit has also had a romantic liaison. It is going to be a very long 4 weeks now, waiting to scan them to find out if we will be having pups. Everything appears to have gone very well and all the matings were natural and after the boys had been allowed to chat them up (smooth talking devils that they are), so I am as confident as I can be that we will have the patter of puppy paws in 9 weeks time.

Kittens!!

Bob has had 4 beautiful babies, all healthy and feeding well. Bob is doing a grand job. At 1st glance I think we have 2 boys and 2 girls, but I will check again in a few days, as those that have followed this blog for a while will know that I have been known to make mistakes about the sex of kittens!!

Will take better photos soon, but don't like to disturb them too much at this stage.
