Sooner than expected

As the kittens join their new families things are becoming much quieter here, but hopefully the quiet period won't last too long as Florin has come into season earlier than expected :)

We had a fab day at the beach yesterday, the weather was glorious so it was a bit busier than we had hoped for, but still plenty of space for the dogs to run and have fun once we had walked a couple of hundred yards.

Just a few pics

The kittens are now at the manic monster stage, full of energy, quick as lightning and batteries seem to recharge very quickly. They have all had their 1st health check and vaccination and Beetles kittens will start to leave us in about a fortnight.

The dogs have done pretty well for walks recently, our usual walk is about 6 miles long but we do a longer one a couple of times a week(generally around the 8/9 mile mark), today we managed 15 miles, the dogs look a lot fresher at the end of it than I do! We took a trip to Dartmoor on BH Monday for a picnic and took the dogs as an extra to their earlier walk. My hope was that with all the tourists that would have been at Haytor all day the sheep would have moved to a quieter area, I was wrong, there were blinking sheep everywhere! This meant that the dogs had to be kept under very close control and on their leads, but they still enjoyed the change of scenery :) I did take the leads off for a couple of minutes, purely to grab a couple of quick group shots on the rocks.
The above picture was on a heath that we crossed on todays 15 miler :)

Next week the schools will be back, so most of the holiday makers will have gone home which means we get our beaches back, can't wait :)

Quick kitten update and puppy plans

Bernards kittens have flown the nest, both are very happy in their new homes.

Beetles kittens, as expected, are very active at an early age. Usually the kittens don't really start exploring until they are about 5-6 weeks old, Beetles were 4 weeks old when they decided they were big enough to be out!

Kenjis are more laid back, they are woolly little blobs still, but have now started to think about exploring and a couple of times I have found them out of their nest.

We are starting to count down to Florins next season now, if she has 6 months between seasons she could come in towards the end of Sept, but I suspect she is more likely to hang on until Nov/Dec, so just keep watching this space.
