Sioux has arrived

The name has an explanation, though it is a bit long winded, so please bear with me.
Sioux's mum is called Sydney, a name generally associated with males, when most people think of a Red Indian horse they think of a coloured horse, the lady that bred him is called Su, and finally those of you as old as me may recall the Johnny Cash son 'A Boy Named Sue'. His pet name will be Sioux.

He is a confident lad and despite being quite a small pup, he immediately made it up my very steep garden steps, I think he will be keeping me on my toes for a while. He is from health tested parents and I am hoping he will be good enough to father some puppies at some time in the future. Will do a better update in a few days, but for now I am going to take Sioux out in the garden again (glad it's stopped raining!)

No puppies

Unfortunately Dorothy started passing a little discharge last week. Although she is bright and well, a scan this morning revealed that there are no pups now. Not sure why, sometimes these things just don't work out :-(.

Pups on the way

Dorothy and Stanley have proved to be very good beginners as Dorothy is pregnant. Pups should arrive at the end of May and once again the webcam will be running to cover their first few weeks. Fingers crossed for a nice healthy litter.

Sybil is not playing the game (no surprises there!) She should have pinked up about 10 days ago to show she is pregnant, but as yet nothing. But, she hasn't shown any sign of calling again yet, she looks nicely rounded, but then again she always does, lol. So I guess time will tell. Manuel has mated Miss T this week, so hopefully we will have at least one litter of Devon kittens later this year,

Most of the girls are in season at the moment, so I took advantage of being able to go somewhere that I wouldn't be able to go with 9 dogs, we went to Bigbury on Sea with Sarah and Evie. The weather was glorious and we all had a lovely few hours. Here are a few of the pictures that I took, there are more if you follow the link on the right to my flickr page.

New addition

After careful consideration I have decided to get a male std poodle. I can't give much information about him at the moment but I do have a couple of pictures, he is currently only 5 days old and is a beautifully marked black and white parti (will probably mature as a blue/silver and white). he has a name waiting for him, but until the KC approve it I don't want to tempt fate.

He is one of several hopes I have at the moment. The blood lines in this country are very limited for the colours I have, so next year I am hoping to do something quite exciting (for me anyway) and look to visiting some boys in other countries, currently I am waiting for a lady in Germany to get back to me about taking Audrey to her boy next year and I hopefully have plans in place for a Swedish liaison for Dollar in about 18 months and I now have several possibilities lined up for Spirit, without having to leave the country. I am really hoping that these planned matings will not only give me some wonderful puppies over the next couple of years, but will also help the apricot and silver gene pools in this country :-)

Alfie is so disappointed

But it's good news as far as I am concerned, as Dorothy and Stanley have got past flirting and hopefully we will have pups in about 9 weeks :-)
